All Asia Golf Review—Mida Golf Club, Kanchanaburi
Shane, Bill, and I decided to take a bit of a gamble and give Mida another shot this week. After a less-than-stellar round there late last year, we weren’t quite sure what to expect—but we were genuinely and pleasantly surprised.
The improvements across the course were obvious from the start. The greens, which had been a bit of a letdown before, are now rolling at a much better pace—smooth, true, and consistent. The course itself looks fantastic: fresh, vibrant, and every bit as beautiful as we remember it from its early days.
A big hats off to the ground staff and the greenkeeper. Whatever changes have been made, they’ve done a terrific job, and it really shows.
Please understand the overall review has been written on personal photos and experiences on the day, as you are aware things change with weather and other factors beyond our control.
Course General Overview
Nestled in the peaceful landscapes of Kanchanaburi, Mida Golf Club offers a refreshing and enjoyable golfing experience for players of all skill levels. Formerly known as Lion Hills Golf & Country Club, the course was renovated and rebranded in 2010 and continues to offer a warm welcome and great value for money.
Layout: 18 holes | Par 72 | 6,844 yards (6,258 meters)
Fairways & Terrain: Mostly flat with generous landing areas, lined with pine trees and occasional gullies that add subtle variety to play. Lots of run experienced which at times was detrimental to the scoring. Note that the fronts of the greens rolled onto the green, and the majority of chip shots were sitting lovely on the fringes
Greens: Generally in very good condition —medium to semi fast speed, especially downhill, which rewards straight putting. The 9th and 13th greens showed more than minor issues but remained playable and did not detract from the overall round.
Water Features: A river crosses the 1st hole and accompanies holes 13 to 15, providing scenic beauty without creating major challenges. there is a lot of water hazards but are semi dry, but we had lots of rain last few days so in places it was wet underfoot.
The course is approachable and welcoming, ideal for both the Low marker players and also for beginners and like us seeking a relaxing round with friends. More experienced players will still find a good challenge, especially with the length and layout of the par fours and fives
Scenery and Ambience:
Framed by majestic mountains and surrounded by lush natural woodland, Mida Golf Club delivers a tranquil environment that enhances every shot. The peaceful atmosphere and scenic backdrop make for a truly memorable experience, far removed from city noise.
Practice Areas: Driving range, chipping and pitching zones, and a well-kept practice green that mirrors course conditions — an excellent place to warm up.
Clubhouse: Compact but functional, with all necessary amenities. It was busy with resort guests, creating a lively but not overcrowded atmosphere.
Resort Facilities: On-site accommodation, a swimming pool, tennis and volleyball courts, a snooker room, and a restaurant — all of which make it a great destination for golf trips with family or friends.
Our group found Mida Golf Club to be a pleasant surprise. Here’s what stood out:
Highlights
Course Condition: Fairways and greens were in impressive shape — better than several more expensive courses we’ve reviewed recently.
Scenic Value: Great views throughout the round.
Friendly Staff & Caddies: Caddies were cheerful, helpful, and spoke enough English to guide us comfortably through the course. they also knew their stuff..
Playability: A long course with some truly challenging holes. The par fives in particular demand good course management — reachable only with a solid strategy.
Great Value: Competitive green fees and inclusive packages make this one of the best-value rounds in the region.
Suggestions for Improvement
Bunkers: While not in top condition during our visit, we treated them as GUR (Ground Under Repair). While this wasn't ideal, it applied to everyone and didn't diminish our enjoyment.
Refreshments: With only one drink stop at the 1st/10th, it would be great to see more options around the course, especially on warmer days or during busy times.
Peak Season Crowds: The course is popular with group bookings, particularly Korean golfers, as the resort is believed to be Korean-owned now. Tee times can be limited during high season, so we recommend booking ahead. That said, even with an 11:00 AM tee time, our group finished a comfortable round by 3:00 PM.
Address: 123 Lat Ya, Mueang Kanchanaburi District, Kanchanaburi 71190, Thailand
Travel Time: Just 35 minutes from Kanchanaburi town and about 2 hours from Bangkok
Nearby Attractions: Erawan National Park, Hellfire Pass, and other local landmarks make it a great addition to any Kanchanaburi trip.
Green fees
Weekday Rate: 1,200 THB
Weekend Rate: 1,300 THB
Includes: Golf cart and caddy fee (tip optional)

Conclusion:
Mida Golf Club delivered a relaxing, scenic, and value-packed round of golf for our group. While the course isn’t overly complex, its long layout and beautiful setting offer plenty to enjoy. For golfers looking to unwind amidst nature without breaking the bank, Mida is a hidden gem well worth a visit.
All Asia Golf :- 7.5 out of 10.
