Artitaya Kanchanaburi – A Course Worth the Praise
Today we are teeing it up at Artitaya Kanchanaburi with Petter Svensson and the ever-colourful "Bulletman" Bill Harper. We’re tackling the Lake and Mountain 18-hole combination, both of which have undergone extensive maintenance in recent months. We’ll be sharing our All Asia Golf review and course photos soon—but early signs are promising.
Personally, I’ve always loved this course. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say the greenkeeper here might be one of the best in Thailand. To bring a course of this scale back into top shape in such a short time is nothing short of medal-worthy.

Overview – A Historic Layout with a New Lease on Life
Located alongside the River Kwai in one of Thailand’s most scenic provinces, Artitaya Golf Resort (formerly Nichigo Golf Resort) offers 36 holes of riverside golf charm.
• Designer: Mitsuaki Kobayashi (Japan)
• Opened: 1992
• Current Owner: Artitaya Group (South Korea)
• Layout: 4 x 9-hole courses — River, Lake, Mountain and Valley
• Facilities: Clubhouse, restaurant, range, and on-site lodging
We reviewed the Lake and Mountain nines, both of which have undergone significant renovations in past 3 to 4 months

Lake Course – The Comeback Contender
Recent upgrades to the Lake Course have dramatically improved its playability and aesthetic appeal. A complete rebuild of some greens including new bunkering in places, better drainage, and fresh turf in key fairway areas make this nine both strategic and fun.
Highlights:
• Greens: Very annoyingly slow but true, and visually clean
• Fairways: Maturing nicely with consistent coverage beautiful to play off
• Bunkers: Fresh sand and good edging, could not fault the bunkers the best I have seen in years and compared to a lot of quality courses throughout Thailand
• Tee Boxes: In beautiful condition as you can see from the photos
“ will be the Best greens I’ve seen when matured. A fair test for all levels.”_______________________________________
Mountain Course – Elevated Beauty, But Still Settling
With elevation shifts and tighter landings, the Mountain nine is a more demanding layout. Recent reconstruction of some greens, hole 5 was unplayable as they were still sanding and coring and some greens were sanded but faster speed than the lake course and roll was consistent—but the design remains fun and challenging.
Quick Facts:
• Greens: Mixed speeds; new surfaces still firm
• Fairways: Well-groomed and green, extremely perfect to playoff
• Playability: Precision required; elevation affects club choice, greens were holding on shots in.
• Infrastructure: There are some cart paths being worked on but generally good
“Once these new greens settle, this could be one of Thailand’s most scenic challenge nines.”

All Asia Golf Verdict
Despite some minor flaws, Artitaya is clearly on the rise again. Significant effort from the ground team and smart investment are paying off—especially on the Lake Course, which will be the strongest of the four. The guys all enjoyed this game and we all agreed these nines were going to become a pleasure to play on once they have matured a few more weeks, we do recommend this 18 immensely and hope you enjoyed the review...
Pros:
• Affordable fees
• New greens and turf upgrades
• Scenic and peaceful
Cons:
• Some rough cart paths but not too bad
• Rebuilt greens still inconsistent probably a month away from perfect.
